The Autumn School wants to provide a preliminary background to students coming from scientific faculties on global climate changes from both a physical and biological approach. A particular concern is dedicated to the evolution of biodiversity and its links to the global climate change.

The Forum is a consequence and a further elaboration of the topics and issues discussed in the previous UNESCO International School Forum on "Energy Security in the Third Millennium: Scientific and Technological Issues" held in Como, Italy, on May 14-16, 1998.
The main goal of the Forum is to favour far-reaching debates and critical discussions on different points of view concerning scientific and technological aspects of energy production, transmission and consumption in Asia, OECD-Pacific and CIS Countries, contemporary tackling economic, social and environmental aspects. The results and recommendations emerging will be forwarded to the ASEM Summit to be held in October 2000 in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
A parallel exhibition is planned for all the period of the Forum with panels, stands demonstrating products and models of energy industries.

That is why the main goal of the Forum is to favour a comprehensive discussion and a critical comparison of different approaches to water problems and strategies.
