The international workshop on Reconciliation, Reconstruction, Representation: Shaping the Future of Iraq was organized in order to analyse the multidimensional aspects associated with the stability, the regional security relations and the current trends of the new Iraq and of the Middle-East.

It represented a follow up of the LNCV Workshops that had been held in Como in the previous years since 2005.

Several members of the Iraqi Parliament and Government, different Iraqi ethno-religious communities as well as Iranian and Western experts took part in the Workshop. Some issues of discussion have been: the stability of the new Iraq and the institution-building phase consequently to the improvement of the security framework; the agreement between Iraqi and US Governments on US troops withdrawal within 2011 and the gradual handover of power to the Iraqi national forces have been issues for discussion; the possible modalities to reach a real reconciliation between the different ethno-religious parts and the role that regional countries and International Community could play to support the country stabilization and normalization process.

Part of the discussion was dedicated to the country economic situation and to the current reconstruction process, taking into account also the importance of oil resources for the country and the problems emerged concerning their management under an administrative and a legal profile.

In the last session the discussion focused on the importance and the role of the US-Iraqi-Iranian relationship in view of the stabilization of the area.
