The main aim of this workshop was to analyse the current state of the security environment, strategic stability, regional strategic partnerships and economic development trends in South Asia, as well as the potential role that Italy, the EU and China (the latter as one of the major regional powers) may play, together with the US and International Organizations, to reduce threats and to favour mutual trust.
In particular, the following items have been discussed:
- Security Environment and Strategic Stability in South Asia.
- International Non-Intrusive and Non-Coercive Initiatives (CTR-like Mechanisms) for Safety and Security Improvement. Development of Regional Security Arrangements for NCSB Measures in South Asia. Bilateral and Multilateral Strategic Partnerships towards India and Pakistan.
- The Role of International Community and Organizations to Enhance Stability, Economic Development and Cooperation.
