Subjects dealt with at the conference included the reconversion of nuclear and biological military equipment produced in the 50 years of the Cold War period and the effects of radiocontamination on the environment and on human life. This conference was the most recent of a number of initiatives on reconversion organised in collaboration with the UNESCO office.
