INSTANS

INSTANS is a European Science Foundation research networking programme that aims to develop an interdisciplinary research activity in condensed matter, quantum field theory and statistical physics.

The goal of this research networking programme is to set up a theoretical framework to answer the fundamental questions encountered in the modern physics of nanoscopic and lowdimensional systems.

This is the first conference of the INSTANS activity.

It addresses this interdisciplinary trend in physics and the remarkable recent developments. It will focus on concepts and ideas in the following topics:

• Quantum Hall Physics and Strongly

correlated electrons

• Non-compact Conformal Field Theories

• Spin system and quantum liquids

• Cold atomic gases

Participation

Scientists and students from all European countries may attend the Conference.

As a rule, travel and subsistence expenses of the participants

should be borne by the home

institution. However, limited funds are available for some participants, in particular for PhD students or post-docs coming from European countries.

Such support is available only for those who attend the entire activity.

There is no registration fee for this Conference
